Slip End Community Champions

School Council

At Slip End Village School, our pupils are given a voice and make contributions towards how the school is run. The School Council plays a very important role in this.

Near the beginning of every academic year, each class in Years 1 to 6 vote for two pupils, who they believe are good role models and would represent the school well. These children then form the school council. During the Community Champions dedicated time each week, the children discuss and take action on developing the school.

We wish our pupils all the very best in their roles and look forward to receiving their input as the year progresses.

The school coundil met recently with the Head of School and looked how we cna make Learning & Teaching even better at the school. The children have some great ideas, including fundraising for new dicitionaries and having short brain breaks in lesson to keep focused.

Reading Ambassadors and Buddies

To share the love of reading at the school, we have two roles that children can apply for.

Reading Ambassadors: The Reading Ambassadors champion reading across the school and share this love with their peers.

Reading Buddies: Every Wednesday, the Reading Buddies, head to Years 1 & 2 and reading with their younger peers.
